Cowon Chargers: Beware the Subpack!

Cowon iAudio SubpackCowon iAudio No Subpack

Most customers who went out to buy popular AC wall or DC car chargers for the Cowon MP3 players (including the extremely popular iAudio M3, M3L, X5L and X5 series) did not realize that they had to use the subpack in conjunction with the charger. The subpack is a port adapter that splits the baseport into multiple ports including USB, power jack and audio output connections. While these extra connections are nice to have, lugging around the subpack to charge the player represents a lot of extra hassle and another thing to misplace while out and about.

That strategy never really made sense to us, which is why we created our TipExchange tips for the Cowon iAudio products.  We were the first (and we believe only) seller in the market to provide accessories that will plug directly to the baseport of the Cowon device without requiring the use of the subpack. Subpacks are nice to have at home, but not when you're trying to power your device on the road. Hi,

Is it possible for an adaptor that takes an "IPOD standard USB 30pin plug/dock" to be converted to a split USB 30 pin for power and a 3.5mm jack for sound.

The idea is for car connection MP3 to car Radio.
The market and price point are for IPOD with power connection.

Another simpler method (and Less sightly wires) would be replacing the Peripheral Ipod2car cable and making the Peripheral box to ipod a specific cable to Sansa or Zen or iriver or to USB.

But the IPOD USB split option has more options for sell.

I am assume there are a bunch of couples out there that has a wife with an IPOD for ease and a cheap minded husband that has an MP3 player.
